ROCHESTER, NY (Sept. 5, 2026) - Georgian Court Volleyball split their final two games Saturday at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational. After a win over the home team gave GCU a three-game winning streak, the Lions were swept in the finale by Lock Haven.
Game 1 - Georgian Court 3, Roberts Wesleyan 1 (25-18, 22-25, 26-24, 25-18)
How it Happened
• Roberts Wesleyan actually scored more points than Georgian Court, 58-57. But the Lions were able to take advantage of a ton of RedHawk errors.
• Starting on the serve where Roberts Wesleyan hit 19 service errors.
• The Lions hit .165 as a team with 41 kills to 19 errors. The Redhawks hit 28 attack errors to 46 kills for a .129 hitting percentage.
• Defensive numbers were fairly even. The Redhawks pulled up 61 digs to the Lions 60 and GCU outblocked RWU 7-4.
Set 1
• Georgian Court scored the first five points in set one and never trailed.
• It was the only set in the match without a tie or a lead change.
• GCU scored another five straight, helped out by three RWU attack errors to extend the lead to 10, 13-3.
• The Redhawks only got as close as five the rest of the way and GCU closed out the set with a
Kyla Davis kill and a 25-18 win.
Set 2
• The second set saw Roberts Wesleyan take a large lead, going up five at 20-15.
• RWU led the entire way until back-to-back service aces from
Ava Churnesky tied the game at 20.

Kyla Davis gave the Lions their first lead, 21-20, with a kill one play later.
• The Lions led 22-20, but things fell apart from there.
• Roberts Wesleyan started out and scored five straight points to the game with a 25-22 win.
Set 3
• Roberts Wesleyan led for nearly the entirety of set three and were poised to take a 2-1 match lead.
• They led 16-11, but the Lions used a 6-1 run to tie the score at 17.
Keira Mullen and
Flavia Pecora each had two kills during the run.
• The score was tied at 21 when the RedHawks scored three of four to put themselves on the brink of a set three win.
• The Lions rallied though, starting with an attack error to get the ball back.

Keira Mullen and
Kyla Davis each had kills to put the Lions back in front, 25-24 and another RWU attack error ended the set, 26-24, in favor of the Lions.
Set 4
• Set four feature nine tie scores, all of them coming at the beginning of the set.
• The points were going back-and-forth early, with the score tied at each point from 6-11.

Keira Mullen tied the set one final time at 13 and it was all Lions after that.
• Mullen's kill was the start of a 13-4 run to end the game.

Ava Churnesky hit six kills in the set and the Lions as a team hit .321.
Lion Stat Leaders

Ava Churnesky led GCU with a 13-kill, 13-dig double-double.

Keira Mullen was in double-figures with 10 kills and hit four aces with 10 digs.

Kyla Davis chipped in eight kills and three blocks.

Roshell Chevres Sanchez nearly had a double-double with 10 assists and eight digs.
•
Maggy Hallihan passed out 16 assists.
•
Carmen Rivera Colon had a game-high 16 digs.
For the RedHawks
• Camryn Karelus matched Churnesky with a game-high 13 kills and led RWU with 15 digs.
• Tiana Copp totaled eight kills and 11 digs.
• Alyssa Snary added eight kills as well.
• Breanna Hard and Ryan Hull each picked up 15 assists.
Game 2 - Lock Haven 3, Georgian Court 0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-11)
How it Happened
• Lock Haven nearly hit .300 for the set at .292 while the Lions were below .100 at .056.
• LHW totaled 41 kills to just 13 errors while the Lions could only muster 23 kills with 18 attack errors.
• The Bald Eagles found their service rhythm, hitting 11 aces in the match. Georgian Court hit just one with four errors.
• Lock Haven held the advantage on defense as well with four blocks to the Lions one and a 46-35 advantage in digs.
Set 1
• The first set was close until the very end.
• Tied at 15 is where Lock Haven made their run.
• The Bald Eagles outscored the Lions 10-2 down the stretch to close in a 25-17 win.
• GCU hit three attack errors during that stretch and the Bald Eagles landed a pair of service aces.
Set 2
• Lock Haven carried that momentum right into set two.
• Tied at two, LHU again used another extended run to pull ahead. This time outscoring the Lions 12-2 for a 14-4 lead.
• Georgian Court was never able to recover from that early hold and Lock Haven led 2-0 after a 25-12 set two win.
Set 3
• Needed a win to stay alive, the third set was a continuation of the second.
• Lock Haven again took a 14-4 lead and never trailed in the frame.
• GCU did not have many answers for the Bald Eagles and LHU completed the sweep, 25-11.

Ava Churnesky and
Keira Mullen's five kills led the team. Churnesky added 17 digs.

Carmen Rivera Colon picked up 17 digs.
•
Maggy Hallihan passed out 10 assists with two kill and two digs.
For the Bald Eagles
• Reagan Irons had a match-high 10 kills with seven digs.
• Olivia Taylor secured 15 digs.
• Natalie Gibson averaged nearly nine assists per set with 26 total and two service aces.
• Katelynn Olmstead hit .429 with eight kills.

• Georgian Court moves to 2-1 all-time against Roberts Wesleyan.
• In their only two meetings with Lock Haven, GCU has been swept both times.
