Volleyball Plays First of Two This Week at Home vs. Kutztown

LAKEWOOD, NJ (Sept. 8, 2026) - It's a quick turnaround for Georgian Court Volleyball who play two matches this week, one at home and one on the road, both before the weekend.

• Wednesday's game is available to watch on a free-to-view broadcast on Georgian Court's portal of the CACC Digital Network.
• Friday's match is available on a pay-to-view broadcast as a part of Flo College on the Mercy portal of the ECC Digital Network.

Previously vs. Kutztown
• Georgian Court and Kutztown have met each year (aside from COVID in 2020) since 2018.
• In that time, GCU is 3-4 against the Golden Bears and 3-5 all-time.
• Playing at home, the Lions are 3-2, and 3-0 playing in the Wellness Center since 2019.
• Last year in Kutztown, the Lions were swept as Kutztown hit .265 for the match with 57 kills.
• Ava Churnesky led GCU hitting eight kills.

Previously vs. Mercy
• This is the Lions first meeting with the Mavericks since the 2018 season.
• These teams had met each year between 2013 and 2018.
• All-time, the Lions are 4-4, and 0-1 playing on Mercy's campus.
• The Mavericks have won each of the last three matches from 2017-2018. 

Last Time Out
• Georgian Court went 2-1 last weekend playing in the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational.
• GCU picked up 3-1 wins over Redeemer and the host RedHawks.
• In the final match, Lock Haven got the better of GCU in three sets to end the Lions three-game winning streak.
• For the weekend, Keira Mullen hit 29 kills and Ava Churnesky 28.

• The Lions 1.87 blocks per set are second in the CACC while their 58 total blocks lead the conference. 
• Georgian Court is also tops in the league with 14.42 digs per set. 
• The Lions are leading the CACC in total assists, digs, kills, aces and blocks. 
• Flavia Pecora is second in the conference with 0.97 blocks per set. 
• Ava Churnesky is in the top-10in kills and points per set. She leads the CACC with 96 total kills. She's also leading the league with 16 service aces. 
• Carmen Rivera Colon's 134 digs are leading the CACC and her 4.32 digs per set are third. 

Who's Hot?
• Georgian Court welcomed the return of Keira Mullen to the lineup and she provided a spark with 29 kills and 23 digs in her first three matches. 
• Ava Churnesky has double-figure kills in six matches this season with five double-doubles. 
• Carmen Rivera Colon has at least 16 digs in four straight matches, averaging 4.6 digs per set over that span. 
• Kyla Davis hit .234 last weekend with 19 kills and a team-best six total blocks.

• Ava Churnesky needs 13 points to get to 400. 
• Carmen Rivera Colon is 14 aces short of 100 for her career.
• Flavia Pecora is already nearing 100 points needing 26.5 more.
• Kyla Davis is 17 blocks away from 100 in her career. 

About Kutztown
• The Golden Bears are off to a terrific start sitting at 8-1 on the season.
• They've won five straight all in five sets.
• That comes after their first six matches were all decided after just three sets. 
• There's no team in Division II with more service aces than Kutztown's 89. Four are already in double-figures led by Ellie White's 18.
• Paige Skinner leads the offense averaging 3.97 kills per set and 4.52 points per set, both second in the PSAC.
• The Golden Bears score most of their points on attacks and serves, but they do still average 1.2 blocks per set, led by White's 22.
• There haven't been many long rallies in Kutztown games as evidence by just 21.2 combined digs per set between Kutztown and their opponents. For reference, GCU and opponents are averaging more than 29.

About Mercy
• Mercy is yet to lose yet this season, sitting at 5-0.
• Most of those wins have come against CACC opponents as the Mavericks are making their way through the CACC and are 4-0.
• While Kutztown is leading Division II in total aces, the Mavericks are leading in aces per set with 3.47. That's thanks in part to Aleksandra Lucic's 0.88 per set, hitting 15 in 17 sets.
• Mercy is nearly doubling up opponent kills per set with 13.94 and surrendering just 7.06.
• The Mavericks have the best hitting percentage in the country at .363 while their opponents are hitting just .082, seventh-lowest in D2.
• Grace Dilena and Stasa Stamenkovic are both scoring 4+ points per set.
