Georgian Court University Athletic Hall-of-Fame
The epitome of a leader, Heather Walker Hastie achieved excellence both academically and athletically in one of the most balanced collegiate careers in Georgian Court history.
The two-sport athlete led the Lions to CACC titles and NCAA Regional appearances in both softball (2007) and Volleyball (2006-07), resulting with the earning of the Georgian Court Volleyball Coaches Award and the 2007 CACC Softball Player of the Year.
As captain of the GCU Lions softball squad, the star catcher is the first NCAA Division II First-Team All-American in GCU athletics history and still leads the program with 43 career home runs.
An All-American scholar-athlete, Heather's leadership roles were not limited to the playing field, having served as President of the GCU Student Athlete Advisory Committee and as the CACC's representative for National SAAC. For her extraordinary efforts, Heather received the prestigious 2008 GCU Presidential Award, the 2008 GCU Inspiration Award, and 2008 GCU Woman of the Year, while also qualifying as a finalist for the 2008 NCAA Woman of the Year award … one of only nine nationwide!
After graduating with a degree in history, Heather proceeded to serve as an assistant coach for the softball team for two seasons (2009-10). While working towards the completion of her MBA, Heather aided in leading the Lions to the 2009 CACC title with a record of 40-17 and the only NCAA Super Regional appearance in team history.Â
