Rochester, N.Y.-The Georgian Court University women's basketball squad continues to seek its first win of the 2014-15 season as the Lions suffered an 80-60 demise at Roberts-Wesleyan College Saturday night. GCU falls to 0-4 after the setback while the Redhawks, in their season opener, improve to 1-0.
After trailing at intermission by a score of 39-33, Georgian Court rallied to tie the contest at 46-all after a
Kiara Colston (Fr.-Burtosnville, Md.) lay-up with 12:24 remaining knotted the affair. A subsequent lay-up from
Morgan Peacock (So.-Edison, N.J.) provided GCU a slim 48-46 advantage at 11:26. The lead did not last for the visitors as the Redhawks soared on 32-14 sprint over the remainder of regulation to secure the home-opener.
Peacock paced the Lions with her 16 points, including a trio of three-pointers.
Jaelyn Tweedy (Fr.-Richmond, Va.) added 13 while Colston shined with 11 points, five assists, and four steals.
Marissa Sell of Roberts-Wesleyan topped all players with her double-double effort of 23 points and 11 boards in just 22 minutes of action.
GCU returns home Tuesday evening for a CACC divisional contest vs. Holy Family University at 6:00 p.m.
