INDIANAPOLIS (March 25, 2026) - The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team for Women's Basketball have come out this week. This year Georgian Court Women's Basketball saw six earn the prestigious award.
The 2026 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
The CSC requires both academic and athletic standards to maintain to be eligible for the Academic All-District Team. Student-athletes must have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and be of sophomore or higher academic standing. Nominees must have also competed in 90% of an institutions games or started at least 66% of games.
The four Lions to make the grade are
Amyah Bray,
Tyra Lovelock,
Niyell McCargo and
Karissa Smedley.
Bray is a senior from Manchester, NJ. She transferred to GCU in the middle of the 2024-25 season and played her first games with the Lions in 2025-26. She played in all 29 games, starting 22 and scored 8.7 points per game while shooting 34%. She grabbed 62 rebounds and came up with 34 steals. In the classroom, Bray has a 3.60 GPA while studying Exercise Science.
Lovelock is another senior who spent the last two seasons playing for GCU. This year she played in 28 games, making 14 starts. She scored 14 points in a win against Dominican making 4-6 from behind the arc. A Psychology and Education dual major, Lovelock has a 3.65 GPA.
McCargo played in 28 games and made 26 starts. The junior from North Brunswick, NJ averaged 7.9 points per game while shooting 40% from the floor. She led the team with 62 assists while also averaging nearly five rebounds per game. McCargo is a Psychology major with a 3.98 GPA.
The final Lion to make the Academic All-District Team is
Karissa Smedley. The junior from Newtown, PA played in 27 games and started 24 scoring 8.4 points per game and averaging six rebounds per contest. She was in the Lions top-three this season in scoring, rebounding, assists and steals. Smedley has a 3.96 cumulative GPA as a Math and Elementary Education major.
