NEW HAVEN, Conn. (April 7, 2026) - The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) released this afternoon their 2025-26 Women's Basketball All-Academic Team. Georgian Court put four on the All-Academic Team this season, as announced by the league.
In order for student-athletes to be eligible, they must have completed a minimum of two semesters at their current institution with a cumulative GPA of at least a 3.50 following the preceding term. They must also be a second-year student-athlete at their institution and have competed in at least 67% of a team's games or started 50%.
This year, the Lions had four make the team, one more than they had last year.
Niyell McCargo and
Karissa Smedley both make the team for the second consecutive season. McCargo is a Psychology major with a 3.98 GPA. She scored 7.9 points per game this season shooting 40% overall and led GCU with 62 assists.
Smedley has a 3.96 GPA while studying Math and Elementary Education. She scored 8.4 points and came down with 6.0 rebounds per game. Smedley was in Georgian Court's top-three this season in points, rebounds, assists and steals.
Two others made the team for the first time. Seniors
Alexi Hoy and
Tyra Lovelock. Hoy came off the bench in 23 games and was among the Lions leaders with 18 three-pointers made. She finished the year scoring 4.2 points per game. Hoy has a 3.95 GPA as a senior studying Exercise Science.
