Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad suffered its second consecutive setback Wednesday evening as the Lions dropped a 2-1 decision to host-Holy Family University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
The Lions, hoping to avoid back-to-back defeats, jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage when
Michael Clarke secured a
Ricardo Vascones feed and tallied a breakaway goal at 7:21, the junior's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
GCU's advantage would hold until the 67th minute when Holy Family's
Mariano Cepeda (So.-Philadelphia, Pa.) squared up a rebounded ball and popped in his 2nd goal of the year, tying the contest at 1-1 in the process. Teammate
Kevin McCollick (Sr.-Washington Twp., N.J.) proceeded to snap the stalemate at 82:22 when he headed home the game-winner off a
Justin Hiltwine (Jr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) free kick.
Georgian Court slips to 2-4-2 (1-2-2 CACC) on the season while the Tigers, after starting the campaign 0-7, improve to 2-7 overall (2-3 CACC).
The Lions will now head home to host Felician College this Saturday at 3:30 pm on Homecoming Day.
