Men's Soccer Unable to Hold On as Lions Fall at Wilmington, 2-1, in Comeback Fashion

Newark, Del.- The Georgian Court University men relinquished a 1-0 halftime advantage as the host-Wildcats of Wilmington University rallied for a pair of second-half tallies to defeat the visiting Lions, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) soccer action.

The setback stunts a four-game unbeaten streak for GCU (6-4-1, 4-2-1 CACC) while Wilmington improves to 8-2 (4-1 CACC) on the year.

Michael Clarke provided the Lions with the initial lead at 18:47 as the senior snared his second goal of the season after sending in a free kick just outside of the box.

The lead would stand for the visitors until the 72nd minute (71:32) when Lorne Bickley (Fr.-St. Helier, Jersey) tied the contest with his eighth of the year. Bickley guaranteed an appearance in the Lions' nightmares later that evening as the freshman found the back of the net once again, this time with the game-winner at 82:03.

The home team outshot the Lions, 10-5, and owned an 8-4 corner kick advantage. The reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, Aleksander Milosevic, gathered four saves in the GCU setback.

Georgian Court will now travel to Post University this Saturday afternoon (2:30 p.m.) for another heavyweight conference contest.
