Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad authored its signature victory of the season thus far Thursday afternoon as the Lions rallied from a 2-0 deficit to overcome visiting West Chester University, 3-2, for the club's sixth victory in seven contests in front of the rain-soaked GCU faithful.
The Golden Rams (5-3-2) struck the first blow of the contest at 24:38 when
Tyler Rapposelli (So.-Reading, Pa.) booted a shot that deflected off a Georgian Court defender for his first goal of the year. The West Chester advantage would extend to 2-0 at 59:16 after
Colin Hester (Jr.-Camp Hill, Pa.) swiped the ball from the GCU defense and sprinted on a breakway for his second tally of the campaign.
The Lions (6-3) would not light the scoring column until the 71st minute of play when a soaring
Michael Tapp emphatically headed in a
Michael Clarke direct kick that just squeezed under the opposing crossbar. The scoring effort marked the first of Tapp's collegiate career.
Not to be outdone,
Ben Alhadif one-timed a Clarke cross in front of the West Chester goalmouth at 73:09 for his first goal as a Lion and, most importantly, the tying  tally of the affair.  GCU would complete the courageous comeback just 4:25 later (77:34) as
Ricardo Vascones peppered a game-winning penalty kick into the lower left of the net after a costly West Chester infraction.
Aleksander Milosevic (3-2) posted his third straight win in the Georgian Court net, registering six saves in the complete-game victory.
GCU now immediately sets its sights on Saturday afternoon when the Lions host CACC-rival Caldwell University at 3:30 p.m. in a highly-anticipated Homeccoming showdown.
