Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad continued its regular-season dominance of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tuesday afternoon as the Lions coasted past Goldey-Beacom College, 4-1, to register its 12th consecutive campaign with ten or more victories (10-3-2).
Undefeated in conference play at 9-0, GCU, under the leadership of coaching tandem
James Moore and
Amy Stainton, have not produced a single-digit season of victories since 2005, Moore's first year at the helm for Georgian Court.
After a scoreless first half,
Erin Wimmer got the Lions on the board just 45 ticks into the second stanza (45:45) as the freshman one-touched a
Kaitlin Lister cross and deposited her fourth tally of the season. The helper marked the 12th for the reigning CACC Player of the Week, which leads all of NCAA Division II.
Lizzy Kroon followed with her eighth of the year at 53:24 as the senior sprinted for a breakaway goal to put the home team ahead, 2-0. After a snafu by the Georgian Court defense resulted in a goal by Goldey-Beacom's
Cassidy Boyd at 63:53, Lister expanded the GCU surplus to 3-1 by depositing her fourth of the year at 64:45.
Kroon supplied an insurance tally at 84:10 by chipping in a
Heather Arbachesky feed to increase the Lions' lead to three scores.
Georgian Court dominated with a commanding 33-6 advantage in the shots column (15-1 shots-on-goal).
Carolyn Stanton, in her second collegiate start in net, improved to 2-0 for the Lions in the complete-game effort.
The Lions will next battle the Warriors of Nyack College Saturday afternoon (12:00 p.m.) in Nyack, New York.
