Bloomfield, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad jetted north Saturday afternoon to partake in a tri-match vs. the Central Atlantic Collegiate foes and Mercy College. GCU split the two contests, defeating the host-Bears, 3-0, before falling in straight sets to the non-conference Mavericks.
GAME ONE
The Lions dismissed Bloomfield (5-14, 4-7 CACC) by the scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-14 to secure the always-important conference victory.
Amy Bruno, a member of this week's CACCÂ Honor Roll, proved her worth with a team-best 11 kills and three blocks.
Aubrey Binkley shined by topping the roster with her eight digs and three aces while
Ashley Pierson and
Jackie Sweeney paced the Lions with 15 and 13 assists, respectively.
GAME TWO
Georgian Court (7-14, 7-4 CACC) proceeded to succumb to Mercy in the nightcap, 22-25, 19-25, 10-25, in the the teams' second showdown of the season (9/8/17 @ GCU). The Mavericks (4-17) also won that contest, defeating the Lions by a slim 3-2 final.Â
Binkley carried GCU with her nine kills and four digs while Pierson dished 17 assists in the setback.
GCU returns home to host Wilmington University at 7:00 p.m. in CACCÂ action.
