Lakewood, N.J. - After dropping the initial set of the night, the Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad rallied back to sweep the next three stanzas in a thrilling 3-1 triumph over visiting Wilmington University Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference divisional action.
The Wildcats secured the first set by a 25-20 score before the Lions ripped off victories of 25-22, 25-18 and 25-21 to send Wilmington packing. GCU improves to 8-4 in conference play (8-14 overall) while WU slips to 10-14 on the year (6-6 CACC).
Peggy Rosario enjoyed a monster of a match with a season-high 25 kills, while controlling 18 digs, to earn the junior her team-leading ninth double-double of the year.
Ashley Pierson registered her third double-double with her 23 helpers and 13 digs.
Gaby Merced added 16 digs on the GCU back line while
Jackie Sweeney dished 20 assists.
Amy Bruno denied the Wilmington front line with seven blocks, while also blasting six kills.
Ashley Binkley enjoyed four service aces and nine kills.
The Lions head out of conference for their next match with a Thursday night road trip to Lincoln University. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.Â
