Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Senior Day Splash for GCU Women as Lions Coast Past Post, 4-1

Lakewood, N.J. - On a day the Georgian Court University women's soccer squad celebrated the collegiate careers of its seniors (Rosa Franze, Lizzy Kroon, Morgan LaDuca, Lauren Mendez, Kelly Poltorak), the Lions made the day even more memorable with a 4-1 pasting of visiting Post University to remain undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition.

GCU improves to 11-0 vs. conference foes (12-3-2 overall) as the Lions are a win or tie away from their second unbeaten CACC ledger (11-0-1 in 2015) in three years.

After a touching pre-game ceremony, the senior duo of Kroon and Mendez kept the festivities going as Kroon one-timed a feed from her teammate to provide the home team a 1-0 lead 11:12 into the contest.

That score would hold until 54:28 when Kroon blasted a free ball to net the Bayville, N.J. native her team-leading 12th tally of the season, leaving her just two short of 50 in her illustrious career. Two faces of the future, Heather Arbachesky and Meagan Murdocco, hooked up just 1:30 later (55:58) as the former one-timed a perfect cross from her mate.

It would be deja vu all over again at 64:35 as Arbachesky this time headed home another superb pass from Murdocco to provide the Lions a commanding 4-0 advantage,

Natalie Axelsson secured the victory as the sophomore shot-stopper garnered four saves in the triumph. Georgian Court outshot the Eagles 20-9 (9-6 on frame).

The Lions look to clinch their third consecutive regular-season title Tuesday afternoon when they travel to second-place Holy Family University (13-4, 10-1 CACC). The contest kicks off at 3:30 p.m.
