Georgian Court Men Edge Holy Family in Regular Season Finale ... Tagged With #5 Seed in Upcoming Tourney

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad closed out its regular-season slate Wednesday afternoon with a 3-2 road win at Holy Family University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

GCU (10-5-2, 7-4-1 CACC), the #5 seed, will now move on to the CACC Championship Tournament and defend their 2016 title, starting with a road game at either Bloomfield College or Wilmington University on Monday, October 30th  at 2:00 p.m.

The visitors jumped out to the initial 1-0 lead at 15:02 when Arturo Sanchez connected on a Louis Silva helper for the junior's second tally of the season. Joel Quist followed with the freshman's fourth of the year at 25:18 to provide the Lions with a 2-0 advantage.

Michael Tapp drilled a Robert Biele feed in the second half (65:11) to increase the GCU lead to a commanding 3-0 margin. The Tigers (3-14, 2-10 CACC) competed until the end by frantically netting goals at 65:47 and 89:16, but time would expire much to the Lions' relief.

Yianni Kavarakas earned the win for Georgian Court with six saves on the day. The Lions outshot the Tigers, 22-12 (11-8 shots-on-goal).
