Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad split a Saturday tri-match in the Wellness Center as the Lions dropped a 3-0 decision to Goldey-Beacom College before beating Bowie State University by the same score in the nightcap.Â
The opening contest, one with potential playoff implications, went to the Lightning by the scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-23. Goldey-Beacom (11-15) and the Lions (11-17) have identical 9-6 records vs. Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference competition and are tied for third in the CACC South Division standings.
Peggy Rosario drilled a team-high 16 kills in the setback.
Ashley Pierson and
Jackie Sweeney dished 15 and 12 assists, respectively, with Pierson adding 10 digs for the freshman's fourth double-double of the campaign.
Gaby Merced controlled 17 digs while
Shana Rayside (six blocks) and
Amy Bruno (five) patrolled the top of the net for the Lions.
In the nightcap, it took GCU an even 50 minutes to dismiss Bowie State (25-11, 25-6, 25-10). Binkley blasted seven kills to complement her five service aces. Pierson distributed another 13 helpers in the triumph.
Jasmine Martin popped five kills to go along with five digs.
Georgian Court looks to Tuesday evening when the Lions host Holy Family University at 6:00 p.m.
