Lakewood, N.J. - After dropping the initial two sets (18-25, 19-25), the Georgian Court University volleyball squad roared back to swipe the the next two stanzas (25-14, 25-22), forcing a frantic fifth-set Tuesday night vs. visiting Holy Family University. It would be the Tigers that would prevail at the end as HFU escaped with the 3-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph with a 15-12 victory in the final frame.
The win improves the Tigers to 18-8 (13-3 CACC). Georgian Court, 0-3 in five-set matches this season, falls to 11-18 (9-7 CACC).
Peggy Rosario produced her team-leading 11th double-double of the year for GCU with 19 kills and 17 digs.
Ashley Pierson distributed 25 assists to go along with six service aces.
Jasmine Martin provided nine kills and seven blocks while
Gaby Merced controlled 22 digs.
Amy Bruno put down 10 kills and
Aubrey Binkley collected 12 digs for the Lions.
Chase Wassel (Jr.-North Wales, Pa.) authored a double-double of her own with 21 digs and 18 kills.
Natalie Stewart (Jr.-York, Pa.) shared a match-best 49 assists in the victory, complemented by her seven service aces.
Georgian Court takes to the road Saturday afternoon with a noontime match vs. first-place Jefferson University.
