Philadelphia, Pa. - The postseason hopes of the Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad appear to be in peril as the Lions dropped a 3-0 road contest vs. first-place Jefferson Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
With the setback, the Lions slide to 9-8 in CACCÂ play (11-19 overall) and are currently tied with Wilmington University for the fourth-and-final playoff spot in the South Division.Â
The Lady Rams (22-6, 17-1 CACC) made quick work of the visiting Lions by send them off with straight-set wins of 25-19, 25-10 and 25-16.
Shana Rayside topped GCU with her seven kills.
Peggy Rosario led the pride with her 12 digs, to go along with five kills.
Ashley Pierson and
Jaime Sweeney dished eight and seven assists, respectively, while
Gaby Merced collected 10 digs in the contest.
Georgian Court closes out the regular season next week with two crucial conference home contests, starting with a divisional showdown vs. Chestnut Hill College Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m. The University of the Sciences come into town on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.
