Caldwell, N.J. - A goal by
Joel Quist in the 87th minute (86:25) snapped a 1-1 stalemate as the Georgian Court University men's soccer escaped Caldwell University with a slim 2-1 victory to improve to 5-2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action (8-3-2 overall).
The Lions jumped out to an early initial 1-0 advantage when
Daniel Vicente popped in a tally from 20 yards out just 5:36 into the contest. Caldwell (5-7-1, 3-5 CACC) tied the affair just over three minutes later (8:47) after
Tom Yorston dribbled home a loose ball, taking advantage of an out-of-position goalkeeper.
The tie would hold firm until late in the second stanza when Quist deposited the game-winner, the freshman's second goal of the season.
Jamie Hickey earned his second win of the week in net for the Lions, collecting six saves on 12 Caldwell shots in the victory. GCU connected on 21 shots, eight of which were on frame.
