Caldwell, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad remains unblemished in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition as the Lions doubled up host-Caldwell University, 4-2, Saturday morning to improve to 8-0 vs. conference foes.
The match marked the first vs. the two opponents since the Cougars (5-7, 4-4 CACC) upset the #1 seed Lions, 1-0, in last season's CACCÂ Championship Tournament title game.
GCU jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage when
Kaitlin Lister (11:45) and
Michaella Paradiso (16:26) found the back of the net for the visitors. A
Stephanie Faust header off a
Meghan Grundhauser corner kick at 26:18 sliced the deficit to 2-1. Scoring sensation,
Anissia Fucci, deposited her team-leading tenth tally of year at 35:18, courtesy of
Ka Lister's 11th helper of the season, to give the Lions a healthy 3-1 lead heading into intermission.
Lizzy Kroon, after assisting on Mendez's goal in the 12th minute, found the back of the net herself in the 60th (59:54) as she banged home a Fucci feed to secure her seventh goal of the season and provide the Lions a commanding 4-1 surplus.
Carolyn Stanton, in her first-ever collegiate start at keeper, secured three saves on 11 Caldwell shots to earn the victory for GCU. The Cougars out-shot their guest, 11-7, with both clubs rattling off five apiece on frame.
The 9-3-2Â Lions now head home to host Goldey-Beacom College this Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in CACC action.
