Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad closed out the 2017 regular season Friday with a swift 3-0 shutout of the University of the Sciences, defeating the Devils 25-16, 25-16, 25-22 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional action.
The Lions (13-19, 11-8 CACC), having clinched a postseason berth after Wednesday's 3-0 defeat of Chestnut Hill College, now await their opponent in the CACCÂ Championship Tournament quarterfinals Tuesday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.
If Goldey-Beacom defeats Caldwell University Saturday, GCU will play at Caldwell (#1 North Division) on Tuesday. If the Lightning loses, then Georgian Court will be off to Post University (#2 North Division) next week.Â
As for Friday evening,
Aubrey Binkley topped all-comers with her match-best 11 kills.
Ashley Pierson grabbed a majority of the assists with 25 in the win while Merced led the way with 13 digs.
Paula Cespedes and Binkley followed with eight and seven, respectively.Â
Amy Bruno and
Shana Rayside dominated above the net with seven and four blocks each.
