Lions Still Seeking First Win of Season After Suffering 68-55 Stinging by Hornets of Delaware State

Dover, Del. - The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad, after enjoying a brief break for Thanksgiving, returned to action Saturday afternoon with a trip to Division I Delaware State University. The host-Hornets zapped the Lions, 68-55, leaving GCU (0-7) in search of its first triumph of the season.

The Lions owned a three-point lead with just 1:45 remaining in the first half before Delaware State buzzed away on a 10-1 run to escape into intermission with a 35-29 over GCU. The Hornets (2-4) opened the second stanza with a swarming 11-2 spurt, proceeding to lead a majority of the frame with a double-digit surplus.

After Georgian Court sliced the deficit to seven (48-41) with 12:07 left, the home team responded with a 16-4 run to build an insurmountable 64-45 lead with 5:34 remaining.

DSU presented three players with double-digit scoring efforts, topped by Jonathan Walker and his 17 points. Simon Okolue followed with 16 while Marquis Collins poured in 14 points of his own.

Nikola Vujovic shined for the Lions with his second double-double of the season, knocking down 12 points and grabbing 11 boards for Georgian Court. Sean Barksdale added an 11-point performance for GCU.
