Lakewood, N.J.- After a scoreless first stanza, the Georgian Court University women's soccer squad unloaded for nine tallies as the Lions coasted to an easy 9-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph over visiting Concordia College, Saturday afternoon on Investors Savings Bank Field.
Georgian Court (3-3-1, 2-0 CACC) outshot the Clippers by a 17-0 margin in the initial half of action, but could not find the back of the net. That changed dramatically in the second session as the Lions ripped seven unanswered goals over 22:16 of action to quickly put the game out of reach of Concordia (1-4, 1-2 CACC).
Seven different players supplied goals for the Lions (one own goal) in the victory, including the first two collegiate goals for GCU freshman
Heather Arbachesky.
Morgan LaDuca netted a free kick for the third straight game with a 40-yard bomb at 54:18 while senior
Kelly Poltorak garnered her first career score with a beauty of a blast into the upper left corner from 30 yards out at 67:16.
GCU ended the contest with a 33-4 shot advantage, including a 20-2 surplus on frame.
Natalie Axelsson earned the win for the Lions, needing just one save in 90:00 to do so.
The Lions take to the road for another CACCÂ match, this time at Jefferson University, Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
