Philadelphia, Pa. - The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad journeyed to take on newly-monickered Jefferson University Wednesday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The Lions, looking to keep its conference ledger perfect, did just that as GCU escaped with a 3-1 victory over the host-Rams.
The talented trio of
Anissia Fucci,
Dana Fontana and
Lizzy Kroon led the charge as all three netted their team-leading fourth tallies of the season in the win. Fucci got things started quickly when the sophomore smashed a
Kaitlin Lister feed to put the Lions ahead, 1-0, just 7:50 in.
Fontana followed with her own highlight at 21:33 when the sophomore deposited a
Rosa Franze pass to increase the surplus to 2-0. After a Jefferson jolt at 34:00 sliced their deficit in half, Kroon connected on a penalty kick at 41:31 to close a high-scoring first half and ultimately seal the win for the Lions.
Natalie Axelsson earned the win in net for the 4-3-1 (3-0 CACC) Lions by collecting three saves in the complete-game effort. Jefferson falls to 3-3 (2-1 CACC) with the home turf defeat.
Georgian Court returns to the pitch Saturday afternoon when they host Felician University at 12:00 p.m. on Investors Savings Bank Field.
