Last-Minute Heroics Results In 2-1 Conference Victory Over Concordia

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad, trailing 1-0 with just 2:45 left on the clock, did the improbable and netted two tallies in the remaining minutes to secure the stunning 2-1 triumph over Concordia College, Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

After a scoreless first half, the Clippers (1-4, 0-3 CACC) struck first in the second when Dennis Limani (Fr.-Norderstedt, Germany) buried an unassisted blast at 69:31 to give Concordia the 1-0 advantage. Concordia looked to beat the clock and hold on for the key conference win, but the Lions pressed pause as Daniel Chochlinski chipped a Vinicius Monteiro feed over the Clippers' keeper to tie the contest at 87:15.

Just 1:59 later, it would be Arturo Sanchez's turn in the spotlight as the junior connected on a feed set up by Javel Dawkins and Robbie Pratka to secure the game-winner for the 5-1-1 (2-0 CACC) Lions. All five of GCU;s victories have been by one goal.

GCU dominated the shots column with a 16-4 advantage. Yianni Kavarakas earned the win as the sophomore secured one save in the outing. Jaime Gonzalez (Jr.-Madrid, Spain) collected six saves in the head-shaking setback.

The Lions next journey to Jefferson University Tuesday afternoon for a CACC contest at 2:30 p.m.
