Lakewood, N.J. - A pair of first-half tallies by
Lizzy Kroon and
Lauren Mendez was all the Georgian Court University women's soccer team would need as the Lions proceeded to blank visiting-Felician University, 2-0, Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The win keeps GCU perfect in CACC competition at 4-0 (5-3-1 overall) while the Golden Falcons drop to 2-5-1 (1-3 CACC) on the year.
Lizzy Kroon collected an
Anissia Fucci feed and proceeded to deposit her team-leading fifth goal to the upper left corner of the Felician net, providing the Lions an early 1-0 advantage at 14:40 in the first half. That advantage doubled to 2-nil at 31:00 when
Lauren Mendez got a boot on the ball following an
Erin Wimmer corner kick and belted her first score of the year.
Natalie Axelsson and the GCU defense held Felician to just six shots (compared to 23 for the Lions) en route to the team's second shutout on the season. The Lions out-shot the Golden Falcons by a mighty margin of 23-6 in the victory.
Georgian Court now looks forward to Tuesday when the Lions travel to Chestnut Hill College for a 4:00 p.m. CACCÂ match.
