Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad secured its second straight Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) shutout Tuesday afternoon as the Lions coasted to a 3-0 victory over host-Chestnut Hill College.
GCU (6-3-1) remains perfect in conference play after the triumph as the Lions improve to 5-0 vs. CACCÂ foes. The Griffins drop to 1-7 (1-4 CACC) after the setback.
Anissia Fucci, the reigning conference Defensive Player of the Week, showed off her offensive prowess in the fifth minute of action (4:53) as the sophomore headed home a
Kaitlin Lister corner kick. Owning a 1-0 advantage after intermission, the reigning CACCÂ Defensive Player of the Year,
Morgan LaDuca, found the back of the net at 54:23 off a
Heather Arbachesky rebound.
It would be Fucci that would have the last word, however, as the Lions' point leader (14) blasted a loose ball from 30 yards out at 57:51 to provide GCU an insurance tally and increase her personal season-high for goals to six.
Georgian Court decimated the Griffins in the shots-column with a monstrous 41-1 shot differential, including a dominant 21-0 advantage on frame.
The Lions now head home to take on Molloy College in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
