Newark, Del.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad snapped a season-opening 11-game slide in dominant fashion Friday evening as the Lions took to the road and wiped out host-Wilmington University, 3-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional competition.
GCU outlasted the Wildcats with a dramatic 30-28 win in the first set before running away with victories of 25-18 and 25-16 to seal the sweep.Â
Peggy Rosario served as the star of the game for the Lions as the junior registered her fourth double-double of the year with 15 digs and 11 kills.
Amy Bruno tied her teammate with 11 kills of her own while adding a match-best nine blocks.
Ashley Pierson dished 19 assists while collecting nine digs.
Jackie Sweeney followed with 11 helpers while
Gaby Merced contributed 10 digs for Georgian Court (1-11, 1-2 CACC).
Wilmington slips to 5-8 overall with a 1-2 mark in conference play.
The Lions look to make it two straight on Saturday afternoon with a 5:00 p.m. CACC home match vs. Concordia (N.Y.) College.
