Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad continues to surge as the Lions secured their third straight victory with a 3-1 defeat of Nyack College Wednesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center.
The Lions took the first set by the score of 25-19 before the Warriors rebounded with a 25-15 win in set two. GCU proceeded to push aside Nyack by the score of 25-16 and 25-17 to close out the home wintriumph and improve to 3-2 in conference play (3-11 CACC).
Peggy Rosario (11 kills, 13 digs) and
Ashley Pierson (21 assists, 12 digs) proved to be double trouble for the Warriors as the GCU duo provided double-double performances for the victors.
Jackie Sweeney dished a team-high 24 assists in the effort while
Aubrey Binkley shined with eight kills and a team-best 14 digs.
Kylie Zuhlke(Fr.-Johnstown, Colo.) clubbed nine kills to lead the 3-13 (3-2 CACC) Warriors while
Rachel Medin (Fr.-San Diego, Calif.) distributed 24 assists in the setback.
British Dawson (Fr.-Kailua, Hawaii) shined with her game-high 18 digs.
GCU now looks forward to Saturday morning when they welcome Post University to campus for an 11:00 a.m. Homecoming Day showdown.
