Lakewood, N.J.- Five different players netted goals, and goalkeeper
Jamie Hickey improved to a perfect 9-0 between the Georgian Court pipes, as the Lions coasted to a 5-0 win over visiting Caldwell University Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer action.
The victory improves the Lions to a mighty mark of 12-2 (8-1 CACC) while the Cougars slide to 5-8-1 (5-4-1 CACC). The shutout represents the ninth scoreless effort by Georgian Court this year.
Joel Quist scored GCU's only goal of the first half, when the sophomore scorched a
Quentin Bouly feed at 9:54 for his fourth of the season.
Louis Silva collected a
Francisco Corral pass and ripped home his seventh of the year to make the score 2-0 Lions at 66:08.
Robert Biele collected his first collegiate tally 73:21, courtesy of
Tom Ardron's first assist of the year.
Nicholas Moran made it 4-0 home team just 4:29 later (77:50) when he unloaded on a
Vinicius Monteiro feed. Moran tied Silva atop the GCU stat sheet, also securing his seventh of the season.
The scoring concluded at 86:07 when Ardron enjoyed his first goal as a Lion, as a Biele corner kick resulted in theÂ
Tommaso Rio pass that set up the junior transfer for GCU's fifth tally of the day. GCU dominated the shot column, 24-9 (12-4 SOG).
Hickey kept his opponent scoreless for the sixth time in 2018 as the GCU keeper collected four saves in the complete-game effort.
The Lions now prepare for Wednesday as Georgian Court travels to Wilmington University for a 3:30 p.m. conference contest.
