Lions Upended, 3-1, at Wilmington for Third Straight Setback ... Binkley, Rosario, Sweeney Achieve Double-Doubles in Effort

Newark, Del. - The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad now owns its first three-game losing streak of 2018 as the Lions lost by a 3-1 decision Wednesday evening at Wilmington University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional action.

WU grabbed the first set, 25-16, before the Lions countered, 25-18, in the second. Wilmington proceeded to narrowly swipe the next two stanzas, 25-22 and 25-23, to secure the win. The Wildcats (17-9) and Lions (15-8) are now tied for third-place in the CACC South Division standings with conference records of 11-3.

Aubrey Binkley (11 kills, 14 digs), Peggy Rosario (13 kills, 14 digs) and Jaime Sweeney (17 assists, 10 digs) highlighted the GCU stat sheet with double-double performances. Amy Bruno and Grace Fenn put down 11 kills of their own for the Lions while Emily McCurley gathered a team-high 17 digs in the effort.

Ashley Pierson dealt a season-high 27 assists in the match.

GCU looks to snap its slide Saturday afternoon when the Lions welcome Chestnut Hill College to the Wellness Center for a 12 p.m. conference contest.
