Lakewood, N.J.- Entering the day riding a season-long three-game slide, Georgian Court returned to its winning ways Saturday as the Lions breezed past visiting Chestnut Hill College, 3-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division action.
The Lions (16-8, 12-3 CACC) cruised to a 1-0 lead after a decisive 25-10 win in set one. The Griffins (8-16, 5-9 CACC) fell just short in the second stanza, 23-25, before GCU poured it on in the third-and-final frame, 25-14, to earn the home victory.
Georgian Court's offense displayed pinpoint accuracy in the triumph with a collective hitting percentage of .301 as a team.
Grace Fenn led the charge with a match-best 10 kills (15 TA) and a stellar .600 hitting percentage.
Shana Rayside drilled nine kills (.444) while
Amy Bruno (.538) and
Peggy Rosario provided eight apiece.
Ashley Pierson dished a game-high 23 assists to go along with her eight digs.
Trilby Kite registered 13 helpers and five digs while
Emily McCurley led the way with her 14 digs.
GCU returns to the court this Tuesday evening with a 6:30 p.m. home match vs. defending CACC champion, Caldwell University.
