Philadelphia, Pa. - Georgian Court University has now won five in a row for the first time in two years as the Lions dropped Chestnut Hill College, 3-1, Wednesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional action.
Chestnut Hill snagged the first set, 25-17, before the visiting Lions swiped the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-23. GCU remains tied with Jefferson atop the South Division standings with a 9-1 conference mark (13-5 overall). The Griffins go to 5-12 on the year (3-6 CACC).
Shana Rayside drilled a team-best 15 kills for the Lions in the win while teammate
Aubrey Binkley brought home a double-double effort consisting of 13 digs and 10 kills.
Gaby Merced controlled a season-high 19 digs, followed by
Peggy Rosario with her 14.
Ashley Pierson and
Jaime Sweeney split the assists in the triumph with 22 and 18, respectively. Merced dished six helpers in win.
The Lions return to the road Friday with a 7:00 p.m. visit to Dominican College.
