Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University Lions, playing their second non-conference match of the week (and third competition overall) traveled to Mercy College Thursday where they battled the Mavericks to five sets, eventually falling by a score of 3-2.
The Lions (20-9) dropped the first set, 25-23, before ripping off a pair of wins in the second and third stanzas, 25-18 and 25-22. Needing just one more victory to take the match, GCU was unable to seal the deal as the Mavericks (13-15) galloped to triumphs of 25-22 and 15-12 to secure the "W".
Three Lions tallied ten or more kills, led by
Amy Bruno with her 16 put-downs. The junior also soared from the defensive end by flooring seven blocks in the effort.
Shana Rayside registered 11 kills and four blocks while
Aubrey Binkley authored a double-double consisting of 10 kills and 10 digs.
Ashley Pierson also tallied a double-double effort consisting of 29 assists and 11 digs.
Trilby Kite fell just short of her own double-double with 22 helpers and nine digs.
