Springfield, Mass.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad trekked north to New England Sunday afternoon for a visit to American International College where the Lions suffered an 83-63 stinging at the hands of the host-Yellow Jackets in the 2018 finale for both teams.
The Lions (2-9) drained the first two baskets of the contest before AIC (6-7) buzzed its way to 39 first-half points, heading into intermission with a 39-28 cushion. The Yellow Jackets owned a double-digit lead throughout the entire second stanza, growing the surplus to a game-high 28 with an 80-52 lead at the 1:52 mark.
Logan Santiago (Jr.-Jersey City, N.J.) and
Jordan Vidal (So.-Bronx, N.Y.) provided 21 points apiece (and four three-pointers each) in the non-conference victory.
Zekiah Owens (Jr.-Spencerport, N.Y.) enjoyed a double-double performance of 13 points and 12 boards.
Matt Ringel paced the Georgian Court offense with his team-best 14 points over 19 minutes of action.
Kristian Alexander, in his season debut for the Lions, collected 12 points in his 28 minutes while
Kim Speller deposited 11 points to go along with a a team-high seven rebounds.
GCU returns home this Wednesday for a CACC divisional showdown with Wilmington University. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. in the Wellness Center Arena.
