Easton, Mass. - Finishing on the wrong side of a 3-0 final Tuesday evening at Adelphi University, the Georgian Court University women's volleyball team cleaned up its act on Saturday as the Lions blanked Merrimack College on day one of the Stonehill College Skyhawk Invitational.
GCU earned the straight-set triumph (and first shutout of the season) with victories of 25-15, 25-21 and 25-10 over the Warriors (1-2).
Three Lions led the charge above the net as
Peggy Rosario,
Shana Rayside and
Grace Fenn each secured seven kills apiece. Fenn and Rayside proved to also be a nuisance on the defensive side of the ball with four and three blocks, respectively.
Rosario contributed a balanced attack by adding team-bests in both digs (10) and service aces (5) while newcomer
Trilby Kite dished 14 assists to go along with three aces.
Georgian Court (2-2) closes out the weekend with Sunday showdowns vs. the host-Skyhawks (10:00 a.m.) and CACC-foe Felician University (3:00 p.m.).
