Georgian Court Men Win Fourth Straight With 5-3 Victory Over Chestnut Hill

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University secured its fourth straight win of the year Tuesday afternoon as the Lions bested visiting Chestnut Hill College, 5-3, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's soccer action.

GCU's victory pushes its mark to 4-1 on the season (2-0 CACC) while the Griffins go to 2-3 overall (1-1 CACC).

The Lions netted the first three tallies of the contest beginning with Quentin Bouly's initial goal of the year at 11:15. Javel Dawkins found the back of the net at 22:02 when he one-timed a nifty back heel pass from Joel Quist. The sophomore also provided the helper on GCU's subsequent goal when Louis Silva chest-trapped Quist's long cross and booted home his team-leading fourth goal of the year at 27:30.

A successful penalty kick from Jason Doherty (Sr.-Donegal,Ireland) put the Griffins on the board at 29:44 to cut the deficit to 3-1. The PK ended Jamie Hickey's personal three-game shutout streak in the Georgian Court net as the sophomore went 299:54 without letting in a shot.

Nicholas Moran, for the second straight outing, registered a goal when he one-timed a perfect cross from Silva at 57:56. Chestnut Hill answered at 57:56 when Tales Domingues (Sr.-Sao Paulo, Brazil) found the upper left with a direct kick. Quist got one back for the Lions at 73:31 after connecting on an unassisted effort after some crafty footwork.

GCU dominated the shots column, 25-13 (13-8 SOG).

Hickey improves to 4-0 in the Lions' net with five saves over 90:00 of action.

Georgian Court returns to action Saturday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. contest at Bloomfield College in a rematch from the 2017 CACC Championship Tournament quarterfinals. The Bears won that game, 1-0.
