Nyack, N.Y. -For the second time this season, Georgian Court University needed five sets to claim victory as the Lions outlasted host-Nyack College, 3-2, Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball competition.
The Lions (6-4, 2-0 CACC) grabbed the first set by a 25-23 margin before the Warriors evened the match with a 25-19 win in the second. GCU pushed Nyack (2-8, 1-1 CACC) to the brink after a 25-18 win in the third set. The home team rallied to take the fourth stanza, 25-22, before succumbing to the eventual victors, 15-10, in the fifth-and-final set.
Trilby Kite, for the second straight outing, provided a double-double performance, this time with 23 assists and 10 digs.
Peggy Rosario collected her first double-double of the year with her 13 digs and a match-best 14 kills.
Grace Fenn dropped in 12 kills and tied teammate
Shana Rayside with three blocks apiece.
Emily McCurley registered 13 digs on the night for GCU while dazzling at the serve with four aces.
Jaime Sweeney dished 12 assists and earned a pair of service aces.
Georgian Court returns home to take on divisional rival, Wilmington University, Friday evening in the Wellness Center Arena. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
