Lakewood, N.J. - In a match that is always circled when the schedule is first released, Georgian Court University kicked off its twice-a-season cat fight vs. Wilmington University as the Lions held off the Wildcats, 3-1, Friday evening to secure the well-earned Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional victory.
Wilmington clawed its way to a 25-15 first-set win before the Lions pounced with triumphs of 27-25, 25-11, and 25-21 to improve to a perfect 3-0 (7-4 overall) in conference play. The Wildcats whimper away with a 7-8 mark (1-2 CACC).
GCU's
 Ashley Pierson (21 assists, 15 digs) and 
Jaime Sweeney (16 digs, 11 assists) each produced double-double efforts in the high-action outing. 
Emily McCurley submitted an outstanding performance with her 22 digs, seven service aces, and nine helpers.
Peggy Rosario drilled a team-best 16 kills on the night while
 Grace Fenn protected the net with her match-high five blocks. 
The Lions now rest up for Saturday's visit to Concordia College in Bronxville, N.Y. where the Clippers host GCU at 1:00 p.m.
