Lakewood, N.J.- Different day, same result ... the Georgian Court University men's soccer squad collected its seventh-straight victory (and sixth shutout) as the Lions blasted visiting-Dominican College, 5-0, Saturday in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The first-place Lions now sport a record of 7-1 (4-0 CACC) on the year while the Chargers crawl to a 2-5 mark (2-3 CACC).
Vinicius Monteiro started off the rout with his first of the year at 13:15, a sliding one-timer of a
Daniel Chochlinski cross. The senior then assisted on
Niklas Laenger's first collegiate goal, courtesy of his on-point corner kick. which put the home team ahead, 2-0, at 41:03.
Javel Dawkins' successful penalty kick made the score 3-0 Lions at 55:19 before
Christian Casciano rattled home a
Tommaso Rio helper at 63:57 to put GCU up by four.
Landry Cheta closed out the rout with his first collegiate tally at 79:51.
The end result was never in question as Georgian Court dominated the shots column, 44-4, including a 19-0 shots-on-goal advantage.
Jamie Hickey didn't need a single save to earn the win in the Lions' net, improving to 6-0 on the year with the effort.
GCU now prepares for Tuesday afternoon when the Lions host CACC-rival, Jefferson, at 3:30 p.m. on Investors Bank Field.
