Lakewood, N.J.-Georgian Court University, on the day it received its first-ever votes n the United Soccer Coaches Division II National Poll, coasted to a 4-1 victory vs. visiting Jefferson, Tuesday in the GCU Track & Field Complex. 

The win, combined with Wilmington University's 2-1 overtime triumph vs. Holy Family University, puts Georgian Court atop the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's soccer standings with a perfect 5-0 conference record (8-1 overall). The Rams drop to 4-3-1 (3-1-1 CACC) with the setback.

GCU, winners of eight straight outings, found the back of the net almost immediately vs. Jefferson. Nicholas Moran connected on a soaring header at 4:31, courtesy of a perfectly struck corner kick from Vinicius Monteiro, to provide the Lions with an early 1-0 advantage. Monteiro got his own chance just 14:19 later when the senior headed home a Moran cross for his second score of the year.

The 2-0 surplus would stand until the 80th minute when Jefferson's Ben Cochran (Jr.-Absecon, N.J.) noggin-knocked a Jason Rocha (Sr.-Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) direct kick to snap the GCU shutout attempt. 

Francisco Corral soon contributed his first collegiate goal (85:13) to replace the Lions' two-goal cushion before Monteiro belted his second tally of the contest at 88:45 to close the door on the Rams.

Both clubs got off 16 shots apiece with the Lions controlling the shots-on-goal with an 11-7 margin.

Jamie Hickey improves to 7-0 between the Georgian Court pipes as the sophomore shot-stopper grabbed five saves in the complete-game win. Kris Donaldson (Jr.-Trindad & Tobago) slips to 1-1 for Jefferson, collecting seven saves in the effort.

The Lions look to continue their healthy winning streak when they host Nyack College in a special Homecoming Day showdown this Saturday. The match kicks off at 3:30 p.m. on the turf field.
