Lakewood, N.J. - The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad remains perfect in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play (and improves to 4-0 at home) as the Lions sent Jefferson packing, 4-1, Wednesday afternoon in the GCU Track & Complex.
GCU moves to 5-0 (6-3 overall) vs. conference foes and extends their regular-season winning streak to 18 straight vs. CACCÂ opponents. The visiting Lady Rams drop to 2-5 on the year (2-4 CACC).
Krystal Hund recorded her conference-leading ninth goal of the year at 13:38, breaking away with a
Heather Arbachesky feed to put the Lions up, 1-0.
Anissia Fucci followed with the home team's next two tallies of the contest, burying a
Kaitlin Lister helper at 20:08 before heading in a
Kaylie Wessberg cross at 24:32.
The 3-0 surplus would hold until the 64th minute (63:17) when Arbachesky connected on her seventh of the season, courtesy of Lister's second assist of the afternoon.
Local product,
Brooke Haden (Sr.-Freehold, N.J.), prevented the shutout when she put Jefferson on the board at 65:36 with her first score of the campaign. The Rams outshot the Lions, 19-15, including an 8-7 shots-on-goal advantage.
Natalie Axelsson improves to 5-3 in the GCU net as the junior goalkeeper collected seven saves in the complete-game effort.
The Lions now prepare for this Saturday when they host Nyack College for a special Homecoming Day contest. Start time is 1:00 p.m. on the turf field.
