Lakewood, N.J.- Georgian Court University rebounded from a second-half deficit by netting four unanswered goals as the Lions ran away with a 4-1 victory over Nyack College Saturday afternoon on Homecoming Day at GCU.
After a scoreless first half, a controversial infraction set the stage for a Nyack penalty kick attempt, successfully scored by
Camila Parada (Jr.-Sogamoso, Columbia) at 47:25 to put the Warriors ahead, 1-0.
The Lions countered just 7:45 later (55:10) in identical fashion as the Warriors yielded its own questionable PK opportunity, resulting in
Krystal Hund's ninth goal of the year for the home team. With the score now knotted at 1-1,
Heather Arbachesky snapped the stalemate at 58:22 as the senior headed home an
Anissia Fucci feed.
Michaella Paradiso scored her second of the year at 79:10 following a
Dana Fontana corner kick. Hund returned to the spotlight in the 89th-minute (88:32) when the freshman connected on her CACC-leading 10th tally, courtesy of Fucci's second helper on the day.
GCU, winners of three straight and seven of their last eight outings, dominated the shots column with a 29-2 margin (13-2 SOG).
Natalie Axelsson was victorious in the Georgian Court net, needing just one save to earn her sixth win of the year. The Warriors fall to 2-6-1 (2-3-1 CACC) after the defeat.
Georgian Court (7-3, 6-0 CACC) now takes to the road Tuesday with a CACCÂ contest at Goldey-Beacom College. Start time is set for 3:00 p.m.
