Lions Head Into Homecoming Weekend With Friday Night Victory at USciences

Philadelphia, Pa. - Georgian Court University, tied for first atop the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference South Division standings, improved to 7-1 in CACC play Friday night as the Lions took to the road and earned a 3-0 win at the University of the Sciences.

The triumph, GCU's third straight, puts the Lions at 11-5 overall on the season. The Devils conclude the evening at 4-10 (3-5 CACC).

Aubrey Binkley and Grace Fenn each registered season-bests in carrying as the high-flying duo collected 19 and 13 kills, respectively. Leah Wieland followed with eight kills of her own. Fenn also paced the victors with four blocks, while Shana Rayside and Amy Bruno put back three apiece.

Ashley Pierson dished a team-high 20 assists, to go along with 10 digs, to account for the sophomore's third double-double of the season. Jaime Sweeney also shared the wealth with her 18 helpers. Emily McCurley cushioned 17 digs and provided five assists in the winning effort.

The Lions scurry home to prepare for Saturday when they host Felician University at 11:00 a.m. in a special Homecoming Day contest. It will be the second meeting of the year between these two schools as they previously met back on September 2 in Easton, Mass. GCU proved victorious, 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-20).
