Lakewood, N.J. For the second contest in a row, the Georgian Court University men's soccer squad knocked off a nationally-ranked opponent as the Lions shut out #16 West Chester University Monday afternoon on GCU's Investors Bank Field in the team's 2018 home opener.
Georgian Court, coming off Saturday's 2-0 blanking of #13 Adelphi University, kept the momentum alive this afternoon as the Lions (2-1 overall) improve to 3-0 overall vs. the Golden Rams (1-1).
The lone tally of the match came in the 36th minute (35:45) when
Louis Silva knocked in his second goal in as many games after one-timing a
Daniel Vicente cross from point-blank range. Shots were evenly distributed on the day with both Georgian Court and West Chester taking 10 apiece and two each on frame.
Jamie Hickey improved to 2-0 in the GCU net as the sophomore net-minder earned his second consecutive shutout vs. a nationally-ranked foe (two saves).
The Lions now sit idle until Saturday when Georgian Court travels to Concordia College (NY) to open Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) competition vs. the Clippers. Start time is set for 12:00 p.m.
