Lakewood, N.J.- In the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener for both squads, Georgian Court University coasted to a 3-0 victory over visiting Goldey-Beacom College Wednesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center Arena.
The Lions improve to 4-3 (1-0 CACC) after holding off the Lightning (2-8, 0-1 CACC) by scores of 25-15, 25-17 and 25-19 in the straight-set triumph. GCU has now won two straight, and three of its last four contests.
Peggy Rosario eclipsed double-digits in the kills column with her match-best 12, followed by
Aubrey Binkley and
Shana Rayside with seven and six, respectively.
Trilby Kite dished 14 assists in the win while
Ashley Pierson contributed 11 helpers of her own.Â
Binkley also was clutch with her serves as the sophomore dropped in four aces on the night.
Emily McCurley controlled the back line with her 14 digs.
Leah Wieland patrolled the net with a team-best four blocks.
Georgian Court will return to action this Friday with its second home tri-match of the young season. The Lions will take on Queens College (NY) at 3:00 p.m. and Kutztown University at 7:00 p.m. Queens and Kutztown face off at 5:00 p.m. All matches will be played in the Wellness Center Arena.
