Georgian Court Women Make It Four-Straight Wins as Lions Double Up Post, 4-2

Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University made it four-straight victories Saturday afternoon as the Lions doubled up visiting Post University, 4-2, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) women's soccer action.

Krystal Hund got things going for the Lions at 20:39 as the sophomore tapped in her team-leading eighth tally of the year, off a beautiful double helper from Anissia Fucci and Kaitlin Lister. Hund showed she also likes to share at 28:49 as she provided the assist on Dana Fontana's first score of the year.

Post (6-4-2, 5-2 CACC) cut the Lions' lead in half at 52:46 when Samantha Brostek (Sr.-Thomaston, Conn.) took advantage of a costly GCU infraction and popped in a successful penalty kick attempt. Georgian Court regained its cushion at 66:30 as a high-flying Fucci headed home a spot-on corner kick from Shannon McRory for her second of the season.

With the score now 3-1, the relentless Eagles again cut its deficit to one when Lydia Asamoah (Manchester, Conn.) one-timed her seventh goal of the year as the freshman blasted an initial Post shot that rebounded off the GCU cross bar.

The Lions, never feeling the pressure, closed out the victory at 76:27 with Aliya Canfield's sixth goal of the season (assist by Kieran Lees).

GCU owned a slight 17-15 advantage in the shot column (7-6 on frame). Alyssa Dias secured the the goalkeeping triumph as the freshman net-minder settled four saves in the complete-game. Imelda Lazaro (Jr.-Norwalk, Conn.) went the distance for Post, grabbing three saves of her own.

Georgian Court (8-4-1, 6-1-1 CACC) will now play its first non-conference match since Sept. 18 as the Lions get set to travel to New York Tech (NYIT) Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.
