Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Top-Seed Lions Sweep Concordia, 3-0, in Postseason Opener ... Now Look Ahead to Caldwell University in Saturday's Semifinals

Lakewood, N.J.- Top-seed Georgian Court University shook off some initial first-set nerves before settling down and sweeping #4N Concordia College, 3-0, in Tuesday's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Volleyball Championship Tournament quarterfinals.

The Lions (28-6), winners of five straight, now move on to Saturday's semifinal round with a 1pm showdown vs. Caldwell University. The Cougars (14-18) registered a 3-0 home shutout over #3S Jefferson earlier Tuesday evening.

Concordia (9-13) played some pesky volleyball in the first frame as the Clippers owned a 23-22 advantage before the Lions rallied to tally the final three points of the set for the 25-23 win. GCU carried that momentum into the next  two periods, making quick work of Concordia with wins of 25-11 and 25-12, respectively.

Kinsy Haschke, celebrating her All-CACC selection from earlier in the day, floored a match-best nine kills in the win, complementing her five digs. Grace Fenn (four blocks) and Aubrey Binkley (five kills) each smashed eight kills apiece. Shana Rayside, also an All-Conference choice, put down six kills and put back five blocks.

Ashley Pierson and Jamie Sweeney distributed 15 and 13 assists, respectively, while Emily McCurley collected eight helpers and 12 digs. Nahomie Alejandro Negron patrolled the net by leading all players with six blocks on the night.

Georgian Court and Caldwell last played on Oct. 12 when the Lions traveled north and defeated the host-Cougars, 3-1 (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-18) in a closely-contested contest.
