Lakewood, N.J. - Georgian Court University continues its late-season rise through the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference standings as the Lions blanked Bloomfield College, 2-0, in Saturday's home schedule men's soccer finale.
The win puts GCU at 6-4 in conference play (7-9 overall) with two games remaining before the postseason. The Bears fall to 4-11-1 (3-7-1 CACC).
Georgian Court registered the contest's first score at 17:45 when a Bloomfield infraction set the stage for
Javel Dawkins' fifth successful penalty kick of the year (sixth overall goal). The Lions added a second tally just minutes before intermission when
Nicholas Moran, who has contributed points in four consecutive outings, netted his third tally of the season (assisted by
Christian Casciano) at 42:57.
The home team owned the advantage in the shot column with a 20-10 surplus (8-3 on frame).
Jamie Hickey earned the shutout triumph in the Lions' net with three saves over 90:00.
GCU now looks ahead to Tuesday when the Lions visit Jefferson at 2:30 p.m. The two squads, along with Holy Family University, currently own the same 6-4 mark in CACC competition.
