Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Overtime PK Pushes Georgian Court Past Jefferson, 2-1, as Lions Move One Step Closer to Playoff Home Game

Philadelphia, Pa. - A Javel Dawkins penalty kick with 2:45 remaining in the initial overtime period snapped a stalemate at Jefferson, and secured a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory over the Rams, as the Lions, winners of three-straight contests, move one step closer to clinching home field in next week's CACC Men's Soccer Championship tournament.

The Lions took the initial lead at 23:32 when Nicholas Moran blasted home a Dawkins cross to give the road team a 1-0 advantage. The tally marks Moran's fourth of the year as the senior has registered at least one goal in three straight contests, and at least one point in five consecutive outings.

GCU carried its surplus into the second stanza when Jefferson's Tyler Sarnoski (Jr.-Washington Township, N.J.) knotted the score at one-all in the 64th minute (63:47). With regulation time exhausted, the stage was now set for Georgian Court's Dawkins as the senior sent in his sixth successful penalty kick of the season (and team-leading seventh goal overall) at 97:15 to clinch victory for the Lions.

The Rams (6-10-1, 6-5 CACC) out-shot its guest by an 18-15 margin (8-5 on frame) despite the outcome. Jamie Hickey moved to 6-4 between the Lions' pipes as the sophomore settled seven saves in the win.

Georgian Court sits at 7-4 in the CACC standings (8-9) and needs a victory in Friday night's regular-season finale at Chestnut Hill College (7pm) if it hopes to be hosting the CACC quarterfinals on Monday.
