Lakewood, N.J. - Almost two months (Sept. 18) since Georgian Court University rolled Holy Family University for a 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-2) road win, it would be the Tigers that would return the favor Tuesday evening as HFU swept the Lions in straight sets in an a highly-anticipated volleyball battle between CACC South Division rivals.
With both teams coming into the night owning nine-game winning streaks, the Tigers see their mark reach double-digits while moving into a first-place tie with the Lions (18-8, 12-3 CACC). GCU drops its first match since Oct. 10 (vs. USciences) as they see their record dip to 23-6 on the year (12-3 CACC).
It was a tale of two offenses as the the victors hit for a .267 mark (including .425% in the third set) while the Lions could muster a hitting percentage of only .091 on the night.
Carly Covington (Jr.-Delmar, Md.) topped the Tigers with her 14 kills, followed by
Allyssa Hartney (Fr.-Garnet Valley, Pa.) with 12 of her own. All-Conference setter,
Morgan Silks (So.-Norristown, Pa.), did her thing with a match-best 42 assists.Â
Shana Rayside remains hot as the senior smoked a team-high seven kills.
Jaime Sweeney distributed 13 helpers for the Lions while
Emily McCurley nestled 11 digs.
GCU now prepares to visit the aforementioned Devils of USciences Thursday night (6:00 p.m.) as the Lions look for revenge from last month's setback.
